NOTES

Compton Ignatius White was the son of John Edward White and Roberta Bowman. John Edward White arrived in Clark Fork, Idaho, in late 1889, taking up the position of Northern Pacific Railroad agent-telegrapher. His family joined him the following year, making the Whites one of North Idaho's pioneer families.

Compton Ignatius White served in the United States House of Representatives from 1932 to 1950 (except for 1946 and 1947) as the representative from the First Congressional District in Idaho.
