Volney Roy Boyd
Volney Roy Boyd died July 3, 1992, at the Veteran's Hospital at American
Lake. He was 77. Born June 9, 1915, at Culbertson, Mont., his family moved
to Black Diamond in 1925, where he attended the Black Diamond schools. Mr.
Boyd was a former manager of Thriftway Stores in Federal Way. After his
retirement he was a barber in Auburn. Mr. Boyd enlisted in the U.S. Army in
1941, and he served in World War II in the European Theatre. He was
discharged in 1946. Survivors include (Private);
two sisters, (Private) and Violet E. Johnson of
Auburn; several stepbrothers and several nieces and nephews. Services are
pending. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart
Association. Graveside services were held on Thursday, July 9, 2 p.m. at
Firlane Memorial Cemetery, Spanaway, Washington. A Chaplain from Ft. Lewis
Army Base officiated.
