Clara S. Evans, 95, of Sandpoint

Clara S. Evans, who was active in civic, church, and youth work died in Sandpoint Saturday morning, Aug. 3. She was 95. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mary Robinson officiating. Mrs. Evans was born in Eau Claire, Wis., on March 5, 1890. She taught school in Mitchell, Neb., and married Charles Sargent in 1912. In 1917 she married Dr. Frank Evans and they moved to southern Idaho to a homestead. The family moved to Dover in 1932 and Dr. Evans became company doctor for the White Lumber Co. He died in 1936. Mrs. Evans worked for the Department of Public Assistance in Idaho's five northermost counties. In 1950 she became superintendent of the North Idaho Children's Home in Lewiston. She retired in 1969. Mrs. Evans was a member of First Presbyterian Church, O.E.S. Martha Chapter No. 34 and was a past president of the Sandpoint Civic Club. She is survived by (Private); a sister, Kathryn Young of Spooner, Wis.; and a brother, Pat Chubb of Mountain Home.
